About the CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction

Career Pathways

With a nationally-recognised qualification, you will potentially be able to pursue roles such as project supervisor, building manager, site supervisor, estimator, project manager and foreperson.

Entry Requirements

We run two separate streams for this course, one for people with 5+ years of industry experience (experienced stream). We also run classes for those with less than 5 years’ experience (standard stream).

For our experienced stream, you must be currently working in the building and construction industry with at least five years experience or you have already obtained a Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building).

Minimum Technology Requirements

BAA uses a learning management system (LMS) for online course delivery and assessment submission.

The following are the minimum information technology requirements to enable optimal access to the LMS:

  • An Intel Pentium 4 processor
  • 350MB of free disk space
  • 512MB RAM

  • Mac OS X 10.6 or later
  • An Intel Processor that 64 bit

Minimum screen resolution must be 1200×800.  Ensure you have the largest possible screen for the best experience.

Duration

BAA offer two streams for this program, depending on your level of experience in the industry.

Standard Stream: Part-time, two nights per week of facilitator-led classes for 62 weeks.

*Total duration is typically between 66 to 70 weeks when taking into account holidays including Christmas shutdown.

Experienced Stream: Part-time, two nights per week of facilitator-led classes for 52 weeks

*Total duration is typically between 56 to 61 weeks when taking into account holidays including Christmas shutdown.

Student may require up to 8 hours per week outside of class times to complete additional learning and assessment activities, yet this will vary based on each learner.

Delivery

We offer the CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction online or in-person. Virtual classroom (online delivery), or physical classroom depends on your location and requirements.

 

Assessment Methods

The course is delivered with both theory and practical elements, with a mixture of classroom, group discussions, and individual research (including online study).

Assessment combines classroom participation, observation, practical and written presentation and self-paced exercises online in the students’ own time.

The practical demonstrations of skills on a building and construction site will be required for some units of competency, near the completion of the course.

BAA will reasonably assist those students without access to a building and construction site (where required).

Assessment Methods

 

Assessment combines classroom participation, observation, practical and written presentation and self-paced exercises online in the students’ own time. They will also be assessed on the development of a portfolio of evidence throughout the duration of the course.
