AUSTRALIAN TRAINING AWARDS 2017

AUSTRALIAN TRAINING AWARDS 2017

Are you an awesome apprentice? Maybe you work with one? Entries are open for this year’s Australian Apprentice of the Year Award. Read on below for entry dates in each state.

Part of the federal government’s Australian Training Awards — kind of like the Grammys for vocational education and training (VET) — the Australian Apprentice of the Year Award has been running since 1994. It’s awarded to the ‘Australian Apprentice who has been outstanding in all aspects of their trade’. Recent winners include Ballarat-based welder Patrick Janes, Victorian fitter and machinist Melinda Lethbridge, and WA electrician Jared Stone. In 2016, Shane Dealy from ACT won and Courtney Harrison from NSW was runner-up.

To become a finalist in the national awards, you need to win the category in your state or territory.
